Offers a great breakfast menu with very reasonable prices, especially for LA. They also have a nice coffee bar set-up upstairs. I've had their breakfast burrito, huevos rancheros, and a few of their omelettes over several visits, and I've enjoyed all of them!
great bfast...love the novel rancheros...great wait staff too
Sweet little place for coffee and conversation or for some brunch. I love their acai bowl and service is good. Would recommend for a casual stop to eat and hang out in Westwood.
Came here for a late lunch with the boys and they were very impressed with the wall of books available. We ordered blueberry pancakes, a burger, and tortilla soup. The pancakes were fluffy and well presented, the burger was juicy, and the soup was also delicious. Enjoyed taking our time eating and reading and had a great experience here.
Great place to study & catch up with friends off campus
Sunday breakfast here was my absolute favorite. The potatoes were really good and the service always friendly. The outdoor seating is awesome on a sunny day.
Great breakfast, strong coffee!
Good service with varied seating options and tasty bites!
Get the Tiger chai tea latte...to die for!I spent a good amount of my time here while going to UCLA (go Bruins!). If you're hungry, the chicken apple and walnut salad is light, but filling, with plenty of candied walnuts to go around. I also like the tortilla soup here, and I usually pair it with the grilled cheese sandwich (childhood =)).Free wifi, but the tables are pretty limited and it gets really busy during lunchtime since the location of this cafe is near the office buildings in Westwood.
Everything good, but service is very slow
Novel used to be a great option for brunch any day of the week, but after my recent visit here it's clear that the quality of their food is no longer a priority. How can you mess up an omelette? Mine was well overcooked and my boyfriend's eggs Florentine lacked flavor. Lattes were okay but this is my last time spending any money at this place. I would have preferred to eat at home.
Great location huge menu new experience with books and design good taste
We love to have brunch here. The prices are amazing for the quality of food. Delicious.
Cheap, easy, and close to UCLA. Great spot if visiting a student.
I was here back in the spring to meet up with an old friend and I got a breakfast burrito. I accidentally got my order switched with my friend and was about halfway deep in burrito before we realized it. I think my original one tasted better, but both hit the spot on that rainy morning. If I were to go back I think I'd pick a sweet dish over something savory.
Must try. This place is cozy and warm. Definitely will recommend this cafe. :)
They provide friendly service. The coffee is amazing. They have books to read, just in case you like reading books. I've been here 3 times.
I've had quite the mix of experiences here regarding food but I do appreciate the outdoor seating.
I was not super impressed by Novel Cafe, it's your basic soup, salad, sandwiches, burgers type place. The ingredients are pretty bland though and none of the flavor combinations stand out. The pick up register for take out is upstairs which is a little confusing. But there is a hostess downstairs if you walk in when they are not assisting other customers that helps eliminate confusion. There is a nice patio outside if you want to dine in.
I am from Atlanta GA and my nephew took me to lunch at Novel Cafe. Quite reasonable priced and fresh food and good portions.
One of my favorite places in Westwood
This place is delicious. Great breakfast and coffee, all for not that expensive.
Inexpensive fresh food served with a smile. Start with the free chips and salsa.
I have been to Novel at least 20 times for breakfast, and it never disappoints. The Sunrise Sandwich is my go to choice, but their omelettes and breakfast burritos are top notch as well. It can be a bit crowded for weekend brunch, but the wait is never too long. If you go there on a weekday, there is plenty of room to study or get some work done in their upstairs bookshelf area. The outdoor area is really nice as well!
In business because of location only. Poor quality, overpriced food ($10 French toast with no sides), rude staff who make you feel like you're inconveniencing them to be served, and you'll get "oh my god" if you try and modify a takeout order.
Been here for breakfast and lunch. I like the breakfast food better. The Salted Caramel Banana Pancake is amazing, but INTENSE. It's essentially banana pancakes sitting in a pool of caramel. I ate it once and vowed "never again," but it was so worth it. I've also had their french toast. It has nice, thick bread that soaks up syrup well. If you like your breakfast heavy, this is the place to go.
Service is amazing and food is great
My faaaavorite little restaurant to hit up for brunch! There's a great outdoor seating section and the food is affordable and delicious. Wait staff is very friendly and helpful. It's called the Novel cafe because there are books inside that you can read and I'm pretty sure you can swap one out as long as you replace it with one of yours! Such a cute spot
A little bit of noise on Galey but nice to be in the fresh air(?). Had the Novell omelet with side fruit. Perfect for a health conscious Sunday brunch enthusiast. The service was excellent, no problem getting that second cup of coffee.
Meh. Cheap. All day breakfast. Attentive staff.Tasteless food.
Great sandwiches, salads, omelettes. Service has always been what brings us back.
